Flood protection of the Wroclaw city

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Hydroprojekt carried out two major projects related to the Wroclaw Water Junction and flood protection of the city of Wroclaw. The first of the projects consisted of improving the flow capacity of the Old Oder River, including the areas at the foot of embankments on the reach from the downstream of the Psie Pole Weir up to the Poznanskie Railway Bridges in Wroclaw, the second project reconstruction of the Oder Riverbed on the section from the Poznanskie Railway Bridges to the Widawa River mouth along with the improvement of the flow capacity of the upstream of the Brzeg Dolny Barrage were designed.

TECHNICAL DATA:

  • improvement of the flow capacity and widening of 4.7 km of the Old Oder River bed,
  • construction of additional 25.00 m wide span of the existing Rozanka weir,
  • replacement of the sector gates by the flap gates on the remaining 3 spans of the Rozanka weir (3 x 25 m),
  • construction of the ecological fishpass at the Rozanka weir,
  • renovation and modernization of the Rozanka navigation lock chamber and the upper and lower channels of the lock,
  • strenghtening of the bridges abutments’ structure,
  • relocation of colliding infrastructure,
  • strengthening and sealing of the embankment between the Old Oder River and Municipal Canal
  • improvment of the flow capacity of 11 km of the riverbed along with construction or rehabilitation of coliding structures,
  • improvement and rehabilitation of the protection of the Brzeg Dolny Barrage upstream embankments,
