Machów water reservoir
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
In an open contest for a joint design to eliminate two hydro-geologically connected open mines excavations after sulphur mines in Machow and Piaseczno, the team consisting of specialists from Hydroprojekt, Scientific Research and Development Centre of the Sulphur Industry ”Siarkopol” from the Machow Mine, as well as from Metallurgy Academy from Cracow, elaborated a comprehensive technical documentation for recreational water reservoir, created on the site of the “Machow” Sulphur Mine excavation.
TECHNICAL DATA:
- total capacity of the reservoir reaches 120 mln m3
- surface of the reservoir – 455 ha
- maximum depth reaches 42 m
- the bottom of the reservoir was sealed with a 25-m insulating layer of local silt
